3D City GmbH has been designing and developing dynamic 3D software for browsers (web-based), iPhone, iPad and stand-alone applications for Windows and Mac OS for more than 10 years. We attach great importance to the dynamic features, scalability, platform independence and performance of the online and offline 3D solutions we develop.
Project: Leipzig Zoo
3D visualisation of Leipzig Zoo's new giant tropical hall 'Gondwanaland'
3D visualisation: A dedicated 3D web framework is the basis for fast and secure data exchange between the usual internet client-server technologies, such as Perl, PHP, JavaScript, XML and MySQL, and the 3D engine used.
The possibilities are endless. Starting with dynamic 3D browser applications, via stand-alone applications for Windows and Mac OS, to real-3D apps for the iPhone or iPad – nothing is impossible.
Real-time 3D simulations are used in particular for 3D games and 3D browser games. They are all about giving an impression of real worlds, computed and generated in real time. The difference between virtual reality and real-time 3D is to be found in the so-called immersion, as well as in the input and output devices used. Real-time 3D simulations are used primarily in 3D games.
In contrast to this, virtual realities are much more complex. They are being used more and more frequently on the Internet (3D Web and 3D Internet are the buzzwords here). VR and real-time 3D require good or excellent graphic boards (OpenGL, DirectX).
Virtual realities (VR) and real-time 3D are used in particular in the areas of “digital mock-up”, virtual prototypes, virtual product presentation, architectural visualisation, medicine, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, industrial plants, digital factories, GIS, visitor information systems in museums, parks and other public institutions, visualisations of cities and, more and more frequently, on the Internet (e. g. 3D worlds or walk-through virtual worlds, 3D chats, walk-through 3D online galleries, 3D shopping or walk-through 3D shops, walk-through virtual trade shows, 3D games / 3D browser games). The tools used to create and program virtual 3D worlds and 3D computer animations are the 3D visualisation software Maya, Unity3D, Blender, Cinema4D, 3Ds Max (formerly also 3D Studio Max), AutoCAD, and others.
